Course Summary

VTCT Level 1 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a qualification that has been specifically designed to introduce learners to practical beauty therapy skills. This qualification has been designed for age 14 and upwards and will develop the knowledge and skills to prepare learners for further study. Learners will have their beauty therapy skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop skills in beauty therapy and will provide the learner with the foundation for further learning. It will also enable the learner to perform basic services and to assist others in the salon.

This qualification will prepare learners to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee paying clients. This qualification offers a wide range of mandatory and optional units designed to introduce learners to beauty therapy treatments in preparation for further study at level 2.

VTCT NVQ Level 1 Certificate in Beauty Therapy

Course Summary

VTCT Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Beauty Therapy is a vocational qualification that will confirm learners competence as an assistant junior beauty therapist. This qualification is designed for learners aged 14 years and upwards and will support learners to gain employment as an assistant junior beauty therapist. The units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of an Entry level qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test or an interview.

This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as an assistant junior beauty therapist including: preparing and maintaining the salon treatment work areas, effective working with clients and colleagues, taking responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety.

Throughout this qualification learners will develop knowledge and understanding of the anatomy of the skin, health and safety, client care and beauty product knowledge. Learners will develop a range of technical assisting skills in beauty therapy services. Learners will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist them to communicate effectively with clients and when assisting with salon reception duties.
