VTCT Level 2 Award in the Art of Dressing Hair

The VTCT Level 2 Award in Head Massage is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in providing the relaxing and stress relieving treatment of head massage. 

You will learn about the condition of the hair and scalp and classical massage techniques using shampoo, oils and conditioner. 

You will also learn about the contra-indications to head massage, as well as the physiological benefits of the treatment.

The Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in the Hair and Beauty Sector is a vocationally related qualification that will develop your knowledge and understanding of your employment rights and responsibilities (ERR), the hair and beauty sector and the organisation in which you work. This qualification has been tailored to complement vocational qualifications to prepare you for a career in the hair and beauty sector.

It is anticipated that you will complete this qualification alongside a vocational programme of study in hairdressing, barbering, beauty therapy, nail services or spa therapy. This qualification supports all hair and beauty apprenticeship frameworks; progression opportunities therefore exist in the forms of Level 3 studies, a higher apprenticeship, higher education or the workplace.

 
 

VTCT Level 2 Award in Preparing to Run a Hair and Beauty Business

The VTCT Level 2 Award in Preparing to Run a Hair and Beauty Business has been specially designed to enable you to gain the skills, knowledge and understanding required to be a successful beauty therapy or hairdressing entrepreneur, including an awareness of the benefits and risks involved in running your own business.

You will also gain an in-depth theoretical knowledge of the laws and regulations in your region which will impact on setting up and running a hair or beauty therapy business.

This qualification should be taken alongside a vocational hairdressing or beauty therapy qualification.

Progression routes include self-employment or further study of hairdressing, beauty therapy or business at Level 3.

The VTCT Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy Massage is a substantial vocational qualification that will confirm your competence as a beauty massage therapist. This qualification forms part of an apprenticeship framework, however; some of the treatments covered within this qualification are subject to age restrictions in certain regions, where local council special treatment licensing applies. Employers are also mindful of the sensitive nature of the service, and due to this, the availability of apprenticeships in beauty massage may be limited in some cases. For this reason, the VTCT Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy Massage is also offered outside apprenticeships by education and training providers who can offer this course in a real salon environment and provide you with the opportunity to learn beauty massage skills, whilst working on real clients. It is important for you to have the opportunity to learn in a real working environment, particularly because this qualification leads to employment in such a client-centred and service orientated sector.

The mandatory units of this qualification are mainly customer service based, however you are able to tailor your optional units to also cover business administration and management and leadership to suit your role in your organisation. The primary outcome of this qualification is to progress to the next level of vocational learning which could include VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Customer Service. This qualification provides you with the opportunity to demonstrate excellent customer service, to respond to customer issues, to analyse problems and improve the way in which customer service is delivered in an organisation. The optional units cover a range of subjects allowing you to progress into subjects that include team leading, managing a customer service award programme and analysing customer service data.

The primary outcome of this qualification is to prepare you to enter the customer service sector.
