Life Skills And Languages Courses

At L&F Training we can offer a variety of courses to meet the needs of any provision required. This may include Accredited and Non-Accredited courses so that all learners are given a holistic education; allowing for a positive experience and the ability for learners to re-engage with their future. All learners will be provided with a certificate of attendance.

Carousel of Languages – May include the following:

  • Introduction to Construction  - which could include bricklaying, plastering, plumbing etc

Personal & Social Development

VTCT Entry Level Award In Introduction In Personal And Social Development

Course Summary

VTCT Entry Level Certificate in Personal and Social Development (Entry 3) is to support the learner to develop personal and social skills, build self confidence and self-esteem, thus preparing them for the world of work. This qualification is suitable for learners from age 14 years and upwards and is designed to be used alongside other VTCT Vocational Qualifications.

  • Developing own skills

  • Setting goals

  • Healthy eating

  • Budgeting

  • Community action

  • Preparing for work

Progression

  • VTCT Level 1 Certificate in General Food and Beverage Service

  • VTCT Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to the Hospitality Industry

VTCT Level 1 Certificate In Personal And Social Development

Course Summary

VTCT Level 1 Certificate in Personal and Social Development is to support the learner to develop personal and social skills, building self confidence and self-esteem, thus preparing them for the world of work. Progression

VTCT’s PSD suite is made up of five qualifications. The qualification achieved depends upon the combination of units completed. There are 39 units in total that range from Entry Level 2 to Level 1. The rules of combination for each qualification are as follows:

  • Entry Level 2 - Entry Level Award in Personal and Social Development (Entry 2) You must achieve at least 4 credits at Entry 2 or higher 

  • Entry Level 3 - Entry Level Award in Personal and Social Development (Entry 3) You must achieve at least 4 credits at Entry 3 or higher 

  • Level 1 Award in Personal and Social Development - You must achieve at least 4 credits at Level 1

  • Level 1 Certificate in Personal and Social Development - You must achieve at least 13 credits at Level 1

 

Personal Learning & Thinking Skills

VTCT Level 1 Award In Personal Learning And Thinking Skills

Course Summary

VTCT Level 1 Award in Personal Learning and Thinking Skills qualification will provide learners with formal recognition of the transferable skills that make up the Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) framework.

These skills have been designed to be embedded into other qualifications and/or vocational areas to make a holistic programme of study and should not be delivered as a standalone qualification.

This qualification will develop learners ability to think creatively about problems and understand ways to tackle them and how to take informed and well-reasoned decisions. Learners will also learn to work as part of a team, manage themselves effectively and to evaluate their own performance and set personal goals. These are all important skills that will build confidence and enhance progression and employment opportunities.

Progression

The knowledge, understanding and skills that learners develop through undertaking this qualification will provide them with a sound foundation for further learning and employment.

 

Volunteering

VTCT Level 1 Award In Volunteering

Course Summary

VTCT Level 1 Award in Volunteering is primarily designed to equip learners with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to volunteer within an organisation.   

Learners will develop an understanding of the commitment required to perform well within a voluntary role and the benefits that volunteering can have for themselves and the organisation. Learners will also learn how to seek voluntary positions and the methods of application. 

In addition, learners will gain an understanding of equality and diversity and the behaviour required when working as a volunteer. As part of this qualification learners will be expected to review their performance relating to given tasks.     

Successful completion of this qualification will assist learners in gaining a voluntary position and will improve employment prospects. 

Areas which may be covered during the course:

  • Importance of meeting personal and organisational standards

  • Equal opportunities and safety requirements when volunteering

  • Sorting and managing stock levels

  • Health and Safety

  • Promotional campaigns

  • Communication skills

  • Dealing with complaints

  • Displaying merchandise 

  • Managing money

  • Working effectively within a team

Progression

On completion of this qualification learners may choose to undertake further study including the following qualifications:

  • VTCT Level 1 Certificate in Preparation for Event Volunteering

  • VTCT Level 1 Award in Lifestyle Management

  • VTCT Level 1 Award in Active, Healthy Living

  • VTCT Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning

  • VTCT Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuit Training Sessions

  • VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing 

Alternatively, learners may wish to seek a voluntary position within the sector of their choice.
