Established in 2008. L&F Training is a provider of education with passion and pride, dedicated to enhancing students education. Over the past 7 years, we have worked successfully with school partnerships delivering a variety of tailor-made and GCSE courses to meet both the learners and schools needs.
For many different reasons, young people may find that they need an alternative route or environment in which to learn. We specialise in supporting these students, helping them to re-engage with education and overcome any difficulties, allowing them to develop goals and become and valued member of society. Hairdressing and Barbering
VTCT Level 1 in Hairdressing & Barbering
A vocational qualification delivered over two years (GLH 196) years 10 and 11, this course will give you the knowledge and skills to allow you to be competent in the role of a junior Hairdresser or Barber. Within this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of the anatomy of the hair, health and safety, client care and product knowledge.
You will develop a range of technical assisting skills in hairdressing and barbering services and interpersonal skills that will ensure you are able to communicate effectively with clients when assisting with salon reception duties.
Preparing for hair services, shampooing, conditioning and blow-drying hair
Assisting in the monitoring health and safety practices in the salon.
Assisting with salon reception duties
Assisting with shaving services
Assisting with hair colour and perming services
Assisting with plaiting and twisting hair and removing hair extensions
This qualification will prepare you for employment as an assistant junior hairdresser or barber in a commercial hair salon.
Whilst the primary outcome of this qualification is to enable you to gain employment as an assistant junior hairdresser or barber in the hairdressing and barbering sector, you can also progress to the next level of learning via a range of vocational qualifications at level 2, these include:

The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy (VRQ) is a Technical Award specifically for 14-16 year olds.
This qualification aims to support young people to:
Develop a broad and comprehensive understanding of the hair and beauty sector
Develop knowledge which spans the entire vocational sector and related industries
Develop academic study and transferable skills that will support progression within the hair and beauty sector and more broadly

Hairdressing and beauty therapy has been and remains an extremely popular vocational area that many young people are enthused by and aspire too.
The aim of this qualification is to use the hair and beauty sector as a vehicle to develop learners more broadly, so they are prepared and equipped with the knowledge, understanding and skills to pursue a career in any context.
Throughout the two-year course students will develop knowledge of the hair and beauty sector, products used, researching and marketing and designing briefs.
The will also develop skills in critical thinking, being reflective on self-performance and work produced, use of initiative and self-management, problem solving and communication skills – verbal, written and visual.
The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy (VRQ) has been designed in line with recent policy developments, including the Review of Vocational Education - The Wolf Report (March 2011) and meets the Department for Education's (DFE's) characteristics for high-quality and rigorous qualifications.
The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy (VRQ) has been accredited by the qualification regulators for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and is part of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Cosmetic Make-Up
The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Cosmetic Make-up is a vocational qualification for year 10 an 11 (GLH 175) and is to prepare you to enter the specific sector of beauty therapy as a junior make-up consultant. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific job role of a junior make-up consultant allowing you to develop the skills and knowledge required for this role. You will develop knowledge and understanding of the skin, how to prepare the skin, cosmetic products and application using a variety of techniques.

Health and Safety in the salon environment
This qualification will prepare you for employment as a junior make-up consultant. You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a junior make-up consultant. Career opportunities as a junior make-up consultant exist in a variety of contexts, including:
Working in a retail concession in a department store
Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
This is the only VTCT qualification which will qualify you as a junior make-up consultant.
Whilst this qualification's primary purpose is to prepare you for employment as a junior cosmetic make-up consultant, you may choose to develop your skills further by undertaking qualifications in beauty therapy and related specialist areas, these include:

VTCT Level 1 Diploma in Beauty Therapy
The VTCT Level 1 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a qualification that has been specifically designed to introduce you to practical beauty therapy skills. This qualification has been designed for the 14-16 age groups and will develop the knowledge skills to prepare learners for further study. Learners will have their beauty therapy skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in beauty therapy and will provide you with the foundation for further learning. It will also enable you to perform your own basic services and to assist others in the salon.
This qualification will prepare learners to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee paying clients. This qualification offers a wide range of mandatory and optional units designed to introduce learners to beauty therapy treatments in preparation for further study at level 2.

Delivered at a pace to suit learners needs this course is suitable for students looking to improve their knowledge of ICT. These courses develop your knowledge in their respective subjects using a more practical method of teaching. Delivered over 1-year (GLA 77) year 10 or 11, this course is for students looking to improve their chances of gaining employment. The course will ensure you have the knowledge and skills to support you by overcoming barriers to entering work, particularly those relating to searching for jobs, applying for jobs, the interview process and safe learning environment. Throughout the course you will develop the knowledge and skills to prepare for, undertake and review your own performance at an interview and outlining actions to improve performance at future interviews. You will also develop the skills to carry out risk assessments in the workplace.

Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in the Hair and Beauty Sector
The Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in the Hair and Beauty Sector is a vocationally related qualification that will develop your knowledge and understanding of your employment rights and responsibilities (ERR), the hair and beauty sector and the organisation in which you work. This qualification has been tailored to complement vocational qualifications to prepare you for a career in the hair and beauty sector and is aimed at year 10 and 11 and can be completed in one year (GLH 35)
